What is tax exemption
A tax exemption allows qualified customers, like nonprofit organizations, government entities, or businesses purchasing items for resale, to make purchases without paying sales tax. If you qualify for tax-exempt status, you’ll need to provide the proper documentation, like a resale or tax-exempt certificate.
Once we have this certificate on file, your eligible purchases will be tax-free at checkout, helping you save on essential items. If you’re unsure about your eligibility or how to submit your documents, our team is here to help!
How to register for tax exemption
If you qualify for tax-exempt purchases, please follow these steps to ensure your orders are processed correctly:
- Register or Sign In: Tax-exempt status is not available for guest checkout. If you’d like to use a tax exemption, please register or login before placing an order.
- Submit Your Tax-Exempt Forms: After registering, go to your profile page to upload your tax-exempt documentation or find instructions on sending forms to our DB Accounting team.
- Approval Process: Once received, our accounting team will review your forms. Because this is a manual process, please allow time for us to confirm approval.
- Future Tax-Exempt Orders: Once approved, your future orders will automatically be tax-free. Please note, however, that if you place an order before your tax-exempt status is approved, sales tax will be applied, and we are unable to offer a refund for that tax. By placing an order before approval, you agree to these terms.
